SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Sydney is OK

UPDATE: 4:40pm
Bleeding of her wound has cont. off and on and may be due to the the wall scratching she has been doing knocking off the clotting. 
Kanga is fully aware of the situation and has been accessing the situation. 
we hope to keep all viewers informed as we gather any more information. 
Lets all keep good thoughts for our Sydney.  

Early this morning many viewers were alarmed when they saw blood from Sydneys leg.

What happened to her leg??
Cause Unknown and really as to which legs is injured but she appears to be alright and not in any pain.
