SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. CHAT RULES:
Please be courteous and polite at all times, many people are here to see and enjoy the owls and the chat is for sharing this experience with others. Also be aware that school classes and people of all ages may be watching, so inappropriate language or comments will not be tolerated. Use common sense.


Chat will follow "Soccer Rules - Laws of the Game" which are based on
"If in the opinion of the referee......" therefore MODERATORS will advise (and request adherence) if, in their opinion, something is inappropriate or bothering others.


Moderators may be rotated from time to time to allow others a chance to participate - however DO NOT ASK to become one or solicit for others. Owner will make such decisions.


With a large number of viewers, it is possible that something said in the chat may upset others who may notify a moderator of their concern (even though the poster does not reallize) - if so, please show respect and DO NOT ARGUE with moderators. If you argue, you won't get any tucker mate!


We encourage comments concerning other owl sites, especially our proud San Diego County owl boxes. However, do not turn it into a running play by play commentary, and especially ensure that you are POSTING IN THE RIGHT WINDOW and not chatting where you aren't aware. The officer is correct in issuing warnings and citations even when the driver did not see the red light.


Posting emoticons is permitted - but please don't overdo it. 
One per line post.


Refrain from commenting on EVERY post by others.


If you'd like to share a link (URL), then ask a moderator and convey it via PM and to post it.


You may discuss items of personal interest in the chat with those whom you know (local weather, family etc) but remember that when there is more than a "handful" of active users (is it 9.3 or 21.2? .... duhhh, use good judgement), then please tone it down - it can become too much in a rapidly scrolling comment window. Else use PMs (private messages) - we're here to enjoy the owls too, ya know!


Anonymous sour grapes messaging is childish, especially when your IP address can easily be identified. (whowas tracking)

Aussies, Kiwis, and Wannabe's are also permitted to mention words such as dunnies, fair dinkum, a googlie, bloke, sheila, yobbo, struth, and whinging pom - so a cents of yuma goes a long way (almost out to the back o'bourke) Huh?.... then go Google a few of them.


The room is G-Rated so we’re safe for Wee eyes. Be nice please. No bad words or acronyms for bad words. No ages, religion, or Political Discussions. Please avoid all caps as it seems YOU ARE YELLING and clapping emoticons that crash some computers. 
Please keep the conversation focused on the owls.
