SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Adventures with Mel and Syd

The female arrived to the Kastle once again at 9:06pm. This made Mel one  eggcitable boy. He danced & deeted. That crash course at the “Juillard School of Dance” really paid off.

She was so impressed, she went in. Mel also showed her new defensive moves.

Not wanting to do the tango ;) she stayed up front looking out the door.




She then then left 9:22pm.

Mel left 12:12am & returned 12:26.

One owl flew by 1:51am
It was a long game of follow the leader. He returned 4:23 looking back at the entrance expecting her to be right behind but she was not.
