SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. Adventures with Mel and Syd

The female arrived to the Kastle once again at 9:06pm. This made Mel one  eggcitable boy. He danced & deeted. That crash course at the “Juillard School of Dance” really paid off.

She was so impressed, she went in. Mel also showed her new defensive moves.
Can you say "High Karate" !
Not wanting to do the tango ;) she stayed up front looking out the door.

She then then left 9:22pm.

Is Mel Dizzy in Love?

Mel left 12:12am & returned 12:26.

Flybys spotted 12:28 & 1:13am.
Mel gave chase
One owl flew by 1:51am
It was a long game of follow the leader. He returned 4:23 looking back at the entrance expecting her to be right behind but she was not.
Hearing about the silliness of
(Saturdays 8:30pm) & wanting to experience it for himself

Mel decided to stay the day.
