SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Adventures & NiteTime Antics

Maggie and Boomer ventured out many times overnight. Each practiced jumping from porch to roof. Boomer is building his confidence up with his footing. He is becoming a real pro like Maggie. He negotiated the turn to Bindi’s corner without stumbling. Way to go Boomer!
Maggie was seen stage diving from the top of the roof to the playground twice. Guess she is practicing for a mosh pit when she’s old enough to go to her 1st concert. 1st time she landed on the 2nd solid square and continued her journey out of camera view beyond BEV cam once again. 2nd time she jumped, it was after Boom and BEV cams switch off so only guessing she landed in the same area. Proud to stay she hit her mark. Syd made an appearance twice overnight to check on the kids and give words of encouragement. Again keep in mind with Maggie being out of view Syd maybe feeding her off camera.
