SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. "ROO" Hatches

Welcome our newest little Owlet ROO - March 14 Official Time 1:28AM
Congratulations to the winners Largomet, RumbaRue, Coyotemommy, Nana2four, Heatherjane and Niceplanet.
Starting with a pip hole and the view of a little beak poking out brought many intense hrs waiting for the hatch of Roo.



Sydney picked up the shell and tosses it
aside and still makes us wait to see if we had a successful hatch.

Sydney goes out over a hr later and finally gives us a view of the babies
Little Roo is in the pink pile somewhere.

Sydney takes a much deserved break.
I think all the chatter deserved one too! Whew!
