SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. Adventures with Adi & Hunter plus 2

The prey box was stocked 13 treats in all and the UFO was the first to snag one.

Our in prey box ground reporter reports that at one time Adi ate 3 treats while still inside the prey box and flew out with one.. Hunter also made sure she got food.

Approx at 3:26 am, the viewers heard deeting of 2 Owls, very adult sounding. 1st UFO landed on the preybox, nabbed a treat & jumped to the left side of the playground 3:38a. A 2nd UFO landed on the playground closer to the Kastle 3:38a, jumped up to the porch, went in then moved to the back right corner. The 1st UFO flew to the porch then went in 3:40a. The 2nd UFO crouched down as if to be submitting to the other owl while deeting.

Who are these owls you ask.
Could it be a new couple or is this Mel and Syd??

Many of us that have invested watching each clutch for the past 3 years know that after a period of time as the owlets are in the process of fledging that parents do return to the nesting site to reclaim it from the kids. This is a way of telling the kids that its time to move on to their own territories.

Could this be what we are witnessing??
Is this Mel and Syd??
Stay tuned...
