SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. Adventures with Mel and Syd

The bad egg was moved up front we believe, but is it?
Perhaps a casted pellet (hork)?

Below is Sydney taking a break outside and searching the skies for Mel giving us a good view of her eggs (no pip seen) Today is day 30!
Mel again joins the maternity ward and was intrigued as Sydney finally unzipped her plump gopher and noms,
he arrived emptied taloned 8:57pm.

At one point we thought that Mel may attempt a stealie of Syd's gopher.
We all enjoyed another few hours of Mel preening Syd and the sweet soft chitters between the two.
Mel left at 12:52am

She ate the pantry treat beginning 1:33 finishing 1:36. Mel returned home 2:01am discovering a bare cupboard.

He knew he needed to go hunting soon so he cut short snuggle time. He left 2:37am.

Mel returned with 1st treat - ROUS 4:53, handed to Sydney, bonded & left Syd placed the ROUS in the pantry. Mel returned with 2nd treat - RAT 5:58. He gave it to Syd. She was very thankful chittering to their eggs. ” She swallowed it 1 minute later. Mel left 5:59. Currently 1st treat is in the pantry.

While Syd was on flyabout 12:54 - 12:57 We heard peeps (see video).
