SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Adventures with Mel and Syd

Mel arrived 7:03pm and enjoyed some "ME" time inside the box, reminding us that he is still the most handsome owl around..

He did a little goofing off moving around some of the horks..

even picking one up and giving it a bite or two of the petrified thing (crunch)

While still in the box a female landed on the porch 1:37.
He deeted & danced.

She entered then he lunged at her. She stood her ground.

She stepped out to the porch about a minute after entering the box. While Mel postures..

Both left 2:10 & returned landing on the PG 2:23.

Were they playing?

They then fly off, but were seen flying by 2:30.

Screech heard 5:40am

Mel returned deeting, went straight into the box and even with his best dressed duds on, he danced his dance for her.
She was right behind him but landed on the perch porch.
She stuck her head in briefly 6:02 to get a close look at him dancing.
She was not impressed and ordered him back to school.
