SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Adventures with Mel and Syd

Mel was overcome with temptation yesterday with that wabbit inside the box, he couldn't stop thinking about it and ended up eating it himself.

Mel prepares for the nights flight and games of play and shows us his fine form of stretching.

What could Mel be hearing ?
Could that be her?
Does she know that I ate the main course?
Sydney’s bunny hop rooftop landing woke Mel She took off, circled around palm then landed on playground. .
Mel came out & immediately gave chase. Both flew towards the greenbelt deeting at 7:50pm.

Many other flybys were spotted by our viewers much through out the night. Mel once again returns (10:07pm) and entered the Kastle. He spends about a hour and a half resting up and thinking about his next move to woo. He departed 11:42, returned 12:34am & exited to the porch 1:42 as Syd flew by. He took off 1:52. Flyby spotted 2:04.4:11. Deets heard 5:15.
Mel returns with treat 4:05am, and places it in the pantry then left.
Not to be tempted again with eating his second wabbit catch for his lady, Mel chooses to spend the day outside of his Kastle.
Will Mel return early tonight and be able to lure her to come inside for his Vowlentine treat?
Stay tuned...
