SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Contest - MBA



We are Introducing a new guessing game MBA (Making Babies Again) –

Simply stated it is to predict when Mel and Sydney will bond for the 1st time on camera either inside or outside the Kastle. 
Any viewer can play including mods and Kanga. 
We will have one and only one winner!!

 Each viewer’s, mod’s or Kanga’s guess will count as a 15 minute block of time. (Example: if a viewer’s guess is 12/30/12 10:00pm OBT then the viewer’s timeslot is 10:00pm - 10:14pm. If the timeslot is taken, we will assign the next available 15 minute block and inform the viewer of his/her assigned guess.)

  In order for viewers to participate they must submit their guess via email to the following address 

  • CAowlcontests@hotmail.com - Subject line: MBA. 
  • Include in the body of email: chat ID (name)
  •  Date & bonding time in OBT (owl Box Time) PST


Bonding guess time must be at least 12 hours later then email submit time. This way no last minute entries if action starts to pick up at night.
