SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Barney

Barney is a Barn Owl and fell out of his nest at a very young age. The nest is on a girls dads farm so he found him and took him in.

This video was a few months ago when he was still very young and couldn't fly. The daughter started playing music for him & singing and he started dancing!
He is now older and is able to fly although he still has some baby feathers so it's more fluttering. He is doing very well & is starting to take on his own life and is now mingling with the other Barn Owls in the area :)
