SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. How To..

I was surprised last night while in chat that some of our viewers and readers to the blog didn't know how to get to our older blog post to see pictures from days past. They're two ways to get there.

  1. If you scroll down the page to the end of the post, you will notice a pink "Older Posts"  clickable . That will take you to past days post from the main page post.
  2. To return to the main page of the days post, click on the blue clickable of "Home"/ Or if you know the date of a certain post of pictures, you can view them by looking to the left of the page and go to our  blog "Archive" box and click on the " drop down to search for that date.

While we moderators in the chat enjoy all your questions about Mel & Sydney, the best place to find answers about them, is right here at our blog!
This way it frees the moderators time to not have to answer the same questions over and over and allows us all in chat to answer the questions that might come up to the new viewers and chatters just joining for their first time to learn about our Mel & Sydney and barn owls in general.
