SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. Adventures With Sydney - 6 days in a row

Distant screech heard 8:04pm, Syd loudly answered back. Again a faint screech 8:08, Syd being sleepy replied 8:11, “Honey you woke me.”

At 9:33 before Sydney left for the evening she went to the front of the door and jumped at the camera lens, why you may ask?
Who knows, shes an owl!

She went back to sleep only to leave around 9:55ish?

Screeches heard 1:24 & 1:25, Owl landed on boom cam 1:26am blocking most of the view then took off 1:30.
Syd appeared in the tree 4:56, preened, eventually flew to the porch, looked in & entered 5:34.
She rearranged the horks, scratched the floor & took a nap. As Kanga stated, “Sydney has graced us with her presence for another day-stay... that makes 6 days in a row…”

5 Plus 1 = 6 Days!
