SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Adventures With Mel & Syd

With warm temps yesterday afternoon, the Mr.Mister was turned on, a small leaky creek appeared inside and  her biggest issue was where the leak was coming from :),
Syd was hot but comfortable. Everything worked according to the Kanga plan with the mister and it cooled the box down by at least 5 degrees inside.

She left the box at  8:33pm. Screeches & deets heard 11:01 & 12:18am.
Syd landed on the roof 3:41, looked around then took off 4:02 after hearing the sweet voice of Mel deeting. Several screeches & deets heard since. UFO plopped down from the palmz onto the roof 5:04.

UFO (was it Mel or Sydney) checked out the Mister, jumped to the porch 5:07, looked inquisitive then flew towards the trees a minute later. Syd appeared on the PG 5:46am, leaped up to the porch and into the Kastle 5:48.

Sydney was quite animated yesterday with her many faces as she dealt with the warm weather and trying to cast a pellet.

Mister being turned on had Sydney wondering where that new sound was coming from.
Sydney resting peacefully this morning and much cooler weather forecasted for the day
