Adventures with Mel & Syd - Antics

Just as the chat room was locking up their doors for the night, deeting was heard in the distance and then closer and closer it came. Mel & Sydney both arriving in the owl box at 12:57am ! :)

Mel flew onto the porch quickly looked around and went inside the box with Sydney right behind him. Mel went right to the back of the box while Sydney was in the front and showing her disapproval that Mel had come into her kastle..

The barn owl has 17 different vocalizations and I think Sydney gave Mel at least half of them (LOL).
There was some hissing to him and at some points Mel seemed to hang his head and looked a little frazzled and surprised.  Mel tried doing his best Count DracOWLula impression to impress his lady.
Sydney went  out on perch 1:02 am, then leaves - Mel guards from inside, one-legged posture, and nodding off.

Mel added to the carpet by horking up one of the smallest horks I'e seen while inside. Preened and even ate one of his feathers once it was stuck on his beak.
Sydney went out on the perch 1:02 am, then leaves.
It was a great show!!!

Wow that was one scary hissing owl!

"I am Count DracOWLula"!
I vant to drink your blood..
After that "Hork" I think I feel better now.
The man of the house finally notices that his girl has left -  and flies off to dine with her (1:38am).
The box remains empty for the day..
