SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. Adventures With Mel & Syd

Syd spotted in the tree 9:36 then went into the box 10:05. 10:20 Mel lands on boom, confirmed by Kanga.

Sydney looks around her box and seems to wonder "Who's been sleeping in my bed?" She plays the game of "Toss the horks" and picks up a feather or two and proceeds to "Wall Scratch"

Just the factz- 11:15 Syd made strange calls/hisses,
Mod Sunza con’t: very eerie, she went out onto the porch to preen but very alert. 11:37 strange noise again flies to palm cam. 11:41 flies off in one direction then right back in the opposite direction”.
Jowl Friday: “and you sir”. Ozgood: “yes that’s right Sir Oz”. Jowl Friday: “Hey Gannowl we got a funny one & he dresses funny too”. Ozgood: “besides what the Lady Sunza has already reported,
Ozgood con’t: witnessed a few flybys as Syd was on the perch. She acted defensively for a few as she fluffed up her feathers and spread her wings low and wide. 2:03 heard distance screeches”.
