This nestling red shouldered hawk was sent to the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center to have its fractured leg repaired. They're not sure how he broke his leg but it may been from the fall from its nest. He had surgery last week and is already beginning to stand on the leg. Young birds heal very quickly so in about 3 weeks the pins will be removed from the leg and then he can join their other red shouldered family in one of their outside cages.
