SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Adventures With Mel

 Mel showed up to the tree outside at 12:19am where chatter sfp764342 was the first to say"Owl" and won the "Golden Hork Ticket" for the Midnight to sun up time slot.
Mel looks like he has been molting and is wearing a flat top.. LOL
He stayed in the box from 12:22am - 1:18am OBT then left the box and flew off.
A loud screech could be heard in the distance after he left
