SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Pound for pound, Barn Owls consume more rodents – often regarded as pests by humans – than possibly any other creature. ✿ We remind viewers that sometimes owlets may not survive - the parents will dispose of things in "The Owl Way" -viewer discretion is advised, this is nature and the "Owl way". ✿ ~ ✿ “Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. THE SPO Thanks kanga

from RaptorRapture:
In the World Today...we all celebrate Kangarobin for his 500th day of broadcasting to the world the lives of owls as seen in his backyard thru the eyes of 4 delightful cameras. Thousands have celebrated this man of wonder and his never-ending ingenuity as he daily puts on a show that draws all walks of life to educate people about the way of the owl. His owlbox, occupied by Mel and Syd and their 2 owlets, Maggie and Boomer, have delighted viewers for months now. Lost sleep is the only cost, as the action happens after dark. But seldom is there grumbling about lost hours of sleep when the man, the myth, Kangarobin, has done such a wonderful job in making the "show" worth the price of admission. His box is outfitted with the very best high-definition cameras and multiple outside views with strategically placed cameras. So Kangarobin, we salute you this day, and every day. Your fans adore you!
