SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Build It and they will come..

Amongst the soft sounds of frogs and crickets many sounds of nearby owls were heard . 
Many questions about Mel and Sydney and if another clutch is coming, Confucious say: "if u build a great owlbox - they will come" - they did. And because they are California Barn Owls "They'll be back"
I can honestly say that we just have to wait and see.. But I am like all you, it's so hard to watch an empty box. We do miss our babies and wish them well in their travels in the sky..
