SNN (ScrollingNetworkNews) ✿ ✿ Our Mel and Sydney returned to their nesting box with plenty of bonding occurring..but after 2.5 months of Sydney in the box from Dec 2013 to mid Feb 2014, the lack of prey gifts from Mel ( perhaps due to the severe and historic drought underway in California)and they have forgone the nesting process this year as many other raptors ✿ Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food. Sydney Spooked

SPOOKED SYD PEEKS OUT THE DOOR©



With a very brief visit at 11:07 pm, Mel flew to the owlbox to check out Kanga’s new set up for the playground on cam 3 Tadpolz and then flew off to the hunting grounds. As the chat room waited for a sighting they  listened to the soothing sounds of crickets and frogs. Games were also a hit, playing riddle games and guess famous ppl named Robin...

5:00 am Syd arrives spooked and hops in the box , followed by Mel standing guard on the roof. Sydney stayed on alert in the box for 5 mins, Poor Syd.. Good new for us chatters we will be graced with her beauty for the day as it is now light outside.. ©
