Adventures with Mel and Syd

Its hard to think as you see Adi in pictures that just a few days ago Adi hatched out of that small egg. She has more than doubled in size.
Compared to other owls of similar size, the Barn Owl has a much higher metabolic rate, requiring relatively more food.

Owls consume twice as much food for their body size as other owls. When hungry they call endlessly for food.
What an adorable shot of Adi as she peeks out between Sydney's legs.

*Hunter is still growing and will soon catch up to Adi in development, we will then see a lot more of Hunter in pictures.

The eyes of the chicks remain closed for about 10-12 days.
Not only did Mel deliver 4 treats, he stayed to watch Sydney feed Adelaide & Hunter 12:25am - 12:31am
(see video below).

Syd must have asked Mel to bring the kids something different. He obliged returning at 4:17am with a large ½ rabbit (see video).

Knowing Adi & Hunter have been well fed (including leftover gopher), Syd placed Bugsy in the pantry for later. Wow, just look how much they've grown.
